“The Labor Day holiday is always a busy travel time,” said TDOT Commissioner Will Reid. “We want to ensure that the thousands of travelers using Tennessee’s roadways during this period arrive at their destinations quickly and safely without being impeded by road construction delays. We also want to ensure the safety of our HELP Truck drivers who will be working. Please pay attention, move over, and slow down for all first responders. It’s the law!”

While crews will halt lane closures, construction workers may still be present in many work zones, so staying alert remains critical. TDOT reminds drivers that posted speed limits still apply. Those caught speeding in active work zones face fines ranging from $250 to $500, additional court fees, and potentially higher insurance premiums.

On June 12, 30 exceptional drivers were inducted into Schneider’s prestigious Haul of Fame. This honor recognizes drivers who achieve either 3 million safe driving miles or maintain 20 consecutive years without an accident.

Thanks to their efforts, Schneider has significantly reduced U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)-reportable accidents, achieving a record low accident frequency in 2024.

Recognizing Excellence in Safe Driving

This year, Schneider acknowledged the remarkable contributions of its drivers who prioritize safety on the road:

• 98 drivers received the Consecutive Safe Driving Award for maintaining 10 or more consecutive years without a preventable accident or major lost-time injury.
• 92 drivers earned the Million Mile Award for completing at least 1 million accident-free miles.
• Five drivers reached an extraordinary milestone of 4 million accident-free miles.
• Greg Swift made history as only the third Schneider driver to achieve 5 million safe miles.
• 30 drivers entered the Haul of Fame, a recognition for achieving 3 million safe driving miles or two decades of accident-free driving.
